Garga So Many Cinemas: The Motion Picture in India (1996) is a collector’s delight. In it, the kahanikaar B.D. Garga chronicles many cinematic milestones. The text and images point to a beautiful cinematic legacy but would’ve certainly been lost had it not been for Garga’s efforts. The concluding lecture of the series talks of how he constructs compelling film criticism from fragments of films. : Suresh Sharma Prof. Suresh Sharma heads the Performing Arts Dept. (Film & Theatre) at Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha. A recipient of the National Film Award for Best Film Critic in 2001, Suresh Sharma has made a number of highly acclaimed documentaries like The King of Romance Shammi Kapoor, Music Composer Ravi & the Golden Age of Hindi Cine Music and The World of Music Composer Khayyam. He was the Editor of Sndhya Times, a Times of India tabloid. He was a part of the jury at the IFFI-2016. He has worked with German radio Duetsche Welle as a film critic and has been honoured with many awards related to cinema and journalism. Garga: Documentarian first, historian later. Sh. Bhagwan Das Garga was as prolific a documentarian as he was a film historian. He was a fan of cinema verite and dubbed the documentary as a Short Film, Long Promise.
